GL Series tutorial trivia
MSI has recently released a tutorial video for GL series owners and those who are interested in MSI GL Series and would like to know more about them.
The powerful GL series comes with up to NVIDIA RTX 3060 Laptop GPU. In order to release its full power, it uses the Cooler Boost 3 thermal solution.
The Cooler Boost 3 on the GL series are equipped with thinner heat pipe wall compared to previous gen.
The way heat pipe achieves the heat exchange between CPU/GPU to where the fan is, is by the state change of the liquid sealed inside the heat pipes. The liquid absorb heat at the heat pipe end of CPU/GPU, changes state and becomes vapor which moves to the other end, cooled down by the fan, release heat energy and condense back into liquid again.
Thus, the thinner heat pipes has more space to fill in more liquid and has wider channel for the amount of vapor to move at once, and that is why the cooling performs better than the last gen.
Moreover, the resizable BAR technology has also been turned on in BIOS to improve gaming performance.
The BAR stands for “Base Address Register”, in short, it decides the memory size of GPU which can be accessed by CPU. In the past, CPU could only access limited GPU memory.
But with the resizable BAR technology that is enabled in MSI laptop, the CPU can now access all the memory of GPU and improve gaming performance.
In addition to the Gigabit ethernet port, the GL Series also has Wi-Fi 6, which supports up to 2.4Gbps network bandwidth as an alternative option for net browsing or data transmission.
